About the event
Punk meets Druidry in the only trade edition of Jamie Reid’s art, weaving c.180 radical art images into the structure of the pagan Wheel of the Year. The art is selected and introduced by curator Stephen Ellcock with notes on the seasonal celebrations by former Chief Druid of OBOD Philip Carr-Gomm.
Jamie Reid made art without compromise, engaging with society with a burning desire to transform it. Best known for his Sex Pistols and agit-prop Situationist work, and widely copied by graphic artists around the world today, he is one of the most influential and important figures in British culture of the last 50 years, yet much of his art remains relatively unknown.
Time for Magic offers, for the first time, a survey of his extraordinary life’s work and a sense of his legacy as an artist, visionary and activist. The art is curated by Stephen Ellock and woven into the structure of the Pagan Wheel of the Year which Jamie himself observed and painted. Philip Carr-Gomm, the former Chief Druid of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, writes about how following the Wheel of the Year can help us find a new way of being in this age of climate crisis.
The message of Time for Magic is that the re-enchantment of the world is possible. This book is an antidote to nihilism and a call to action: a visual manifesto for a better world.
