About the event
Foolish Fish YouTube channel host Denis Poisson will be offering his insight into "The Value of Esoteric and Occult Books" at Watkins Books on Friday 17th of May.
During his talk, he will approach the topic from two angles, first discussing the mundane, but nevertheless obscure topic of the actual cost of occult books, a genre renowned for its seemingly (and sometimes actually) outrageous costs, and when and why such costs might be warranted, and how to know if you're being duped. The other angle Denis proposes to approach is the less tangible value that is the ways books of these genres can impact one's life, and how (with a little discernment in what some might now call an over-saturated market) the earnest seeker can still find ways to enter and deeply explore the world of Magic thanks to written materials, and how such an approach might, itself, be of tremendous value compared to other existing methods of initiation and study. The Path of the Reader, so to speak! Denis Poisson is the host of the Foolish Fish Youtube channel, through which he shares insights on the latest publications in the Occult and Esoteric arena through announcement "news" videos and review videos of newly released books, as well as occasional discussion/lesson videos designed to provide insight and/or provoke critical thought on one area or another of magical practice, inviting viewers to try on alternative maps of the spiritual experience, scouting the edges of commonly accepted dogma with the aim of ultimately being able to see past the signposts and apprehend firsthand the divine ground of which we are both a part and the whole.
